  1. The housing on my electric water pump has broken and I'm trying to find a used replacement but I have come across a couple of examples on the net of folks bypassing them obviously I'll lose my "run-on" cooling, but it's a track car with 190k on it, so I don't expect it to last out the year anyway! I just want to get it on the road asap. Anyone bypassed theirs?
  2. Well I've finally got round to replacing the knock sensor today. And guess what? Still got a G66 fault code Obviously I have a wiring issue somewhere. Anyone got any ideas where to start? Cheers, Craig.
  3. Or am I going to have strip half the car apart to get to it? Was rather hoping to avoid disturbing the cooling system as its not long had abour £30's worth of G11 in. Cheers!
  4. Help!! MOT retest on Monday and I need to adjust the headlamp aim down, but I cant find the adjusters anywhere? Any ideas, im probably panicking and being dumb but I just cant see anything.
  5. Managed to get myself into a bit of a situation here. Car is booked in for an MOT retest on Saturday morning and have been changing the brakes this evening, but in removing the ABS ring from the back of the disc it seems I have distorted it, and it wont 'interferance' fit onto the new discs (brembo's not cheapy ones). Is it normal to be able to re-use these? Is there a trick or can I araldite it back on just to pass the MOT? Anyone know if it is a dealer only part? Fingers crossed my local TPS has them on the shelf tomorrow! Cheers guys!
  6. Make me an offer mate. Im struggling to value them at the moment.......
  7. Recently picked up a vento vr6 which is going to be a track car so the entire interior is coming out. The speakers in the front doors are Focals, which I assume are aftermarket although they look factory. They're not OEM fitment are they? Either way, are they worth anything to anyone
  8. Still trying to sort my overfuelling problem. I want to get the car to drop into limp mode (if its not already there) to see if its a mechanical or electrical problem. I disconnected the Airflow meter and the Lambda sensor today, and if anything it was worse!! My thinking was that if the car is in limp mode and its still overfuelling then its a mechanical problem, ie regulator running too high a pressure, injectors not shutting off, or fuel pump and/or relay fault. Any thoughts before I fork out to have the car trailered to stealth racing?? Thanks all, Craig.
  9. Please! There must be someone on here who has had this problem. I have tried disconnecting the air flow meter and it makes no difference, if anything its worse.
  10. Its a LHD car, so I can see the fuel lines quite clearly. It is definitely blowing out of the exhaust manifold, now runinng like a sack of shit at idle and all 6 plugs are black as soot, with no1 still wet!
  11. Hoping someone can help me out here. Just replaced, headgasket, timing chains, tensioners etc etc on my 93 passat vr6. Put it all back together and its filling the garage with smoke and pissing fuel out from what looks like the back on the head around the exhaust manifold. Plug no1 is soaking wet and black but 2 and 3 are ok. The exhaust manifold is soaked!! What do I do? Im too scared to drive it anywhere: fuel + exhaust manifold = new car!! Any ideas would be very gratefully recieved.........otherwise its going on eBay!!
  12. I have a 93 German spec passat VR6 estate. I dont know if the golf/corrado uses the same setup, but I have one powered fan, which drives another via a small belt. I bought the car with a dead head gasket, and found on strip-down that this belt was sitting in the bottom of the fan shroud. The problem I have now, is the fans keep throwing the belt. I have changed the belt driven fan, as the last one had a couple of chunks missing out of it, changed the fan shroud as we thought it might be bent, and bought a new belt from vw. I still have the same problem, so I know have a freshly rebuilt VR6 im
  13. Its a 93k German Import LHD auto, with cruise, aircon etc...oh and a blown head gasket!! Head is off, can you guys recommend anyone, preferably in the midlands who can skim my head and replace the valve guides whilst I enjoy myself dropping the box to do the timing chains! Is it worth having some porting done too? Basically I have dont have a great deal of cash at the moment, so my thinking was: Decat exhaust, port/polish the head, 2.9 manifold, and maybe an ecotek valve and one of those airbox chips to fool the ECU into thinking its got more air. (I know the latter two are not highly regard
