  1. I might get a little slap from the mods here....but until Pete comes back to me I have to do this...if anyone is interested the VR described at the start of this post is now for sale. It's a 1998 'R' Reg Vr6 Highline, black with black heated leather. 90k, full service history (some VW, some The Phirm) and will be sold having had a pre-sale service by The Phirm. It has all the mods listed plus it now has the cat by pass, the Infinity install and I have the E46 mirrors on it. Looks, sounds and drives sweetly. ICE available seperately.... Email me and I'll send pics. joebonnett@aol.com or call
  2. Cheers mate! They're RSD RS-Sport mirrors. Basically a copy of the E46 BMW M3 mirrors. I got the idea from Pedrox - thought they looked wicked. I think I paid around
  3. ....well I've finally got off my fat arse and took some pics of my new mirrors and rear lights. Oh, and my new toy too - I decided that I needed an Audi TT to play with as well...there goes that nest egg! I'm loving these mirrors...any comments? http://img14.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc=loc12ℑ=b0d_DSCN0866.JPG http://img16.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc=loc15ℑ=0af_DSCN0869.JPG http://img16.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc=loc208ℑ=76d_DSCN0868.JPG http://img14.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc=loc29ℑ=61e_DSCN0871.JPG http://img15.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc=loc99ℑ=a2c_DSCN0872.JPG
  4. VRMonster - I'm gonna get the logo made bigger on the next batch. My thoughts entirely - great minds mate, great minds.
  5. Pah! You lot are rubbish! He he he. Loads of people saying they only wanted the VR6 logo'd ones - and I haven't sold one yet. The VR6OC ones have all sold in less than 12 hours. A show of hands and I'll order another batch....
  6. Hi guys - Sorry for my absence recently, and the delay in getting the VR6 and VR6OC tax disc holders from Richbrook - life has been manic, manic, manic recently. Those of you who want one, I have 2 designs. A plain VR6 logo'd version and the VR6OC logo'd version. They were commissioned for the club (with Petes blessing!) by Richbrook so you better be quick if you want them, I've only got 15 of each design. Sorry about the slightly duff picture, they're a f*&king nightmare to photograph cos they're so shiny - but you get the idea. They look pretty cool. The easiest way to get one is thro
  7. Thanks fellas. Will first of all try different earth point - then try earthing the HU seperately - then I'll bite the bullet and re-run the cables properly if I can't fix it any other way! I LOVE installing ICE....erm....yeah....
  8. The RCAs and power are on the same side - but speaking to various ICE bods that's a bit of an urban myth apparantly - and more commonly it's bad earthing that causes it....that said, I'll move the power cable.... Someone has suggested earthing the RCA's (I wondered what the little thin wire on them was for! ?! The RCAs are all good quality and the earth point is the rear seat belt mount.....I'll try earthing the RCAs first, then if I have to I'll move the power cable to the middle of the car...but that's a sod of a job! Cheers guys - I'll let you know when I've cracked it!
  9. Anyone know which side the alternator wiring runs on a VR? I've spent the last 3 days installing an Infinity system (6 channel amp, front comps, rear 6x9's, sub etc) and it sounds awesome when the engine isn't running (!), but I've got the dreaded whine at low volumes when it is. As the whine gets higher pitched when you accelerate my limited knowledge leads me to believe that it's the alternator wiring creating the problem not the fuel pump wiring. Also - has anyone got a clever way of sorting it other than re-running the wires that I've now cut too tight to move down the middle of the car?!
  10. I think you'll find it's the old head unit making the noise mate! I removed the old headunit from my car on Friday and got the same thing - I was planning on Ebaying the old onw - but had to smash the f**k out of it with a hammer to get the beep to stop! I think it was a security feture built into the Sony VW headunits....bit of a bastard to say the least!
  11. I've mailed you the pictures mate - could you do the honours for me please?
  12. No worries - I should have artwork by Monday. They are using the artwork sent to me by Pete...these images.... They have said that they can't get quite the same 'depth' of 3D feel that you can get on a computer screen - but they'll look cool I'm sure! [ Edited Thu Mar 17 2005, 12:56PM ]
  13. All - I posted a little while ago in the group buy section about these. I placed the order this morning with Richbrook and should have 15no. VR6 logo'd and 15no. VR6OC logo'd tax disc holders in my possession by next week. They are £16 delivered to your door (recorded) - if you want to reserve one just drop an email to joebonnett@aol.com with your details. For ease I was hoping only to accept PayPal - but if you would rather send me a cheque via snail mail then cool - PM me for my address. I haven't got pics of them yet - as soon as I get them in I'll post some. But basically they are silv
  14. For your info guys I (sadly) went out and bought the Max Power guide to ICE for this problem - as it features running the power cables on a MK3 golf - perfick! Shows you which grommet to use etc. Also shows you how to hide your tweeters under the factory speaker covers etc. Helped me a lot!
  15. I think binliner had a hand in making them appear! And I also think that premium member status does make a difference....off to sort that now....
  16. I started my internet business and gave up work - couldn't justify the monthly finance payment whilst paying my own wages! Sold the M3, split the equity with my wife, I bought a VR, she bought a 106 GTI. I LOVE my VR though.....but I can't say I don't miss the 343BHP with the roof down occasionally. Must peddle more porn....
  17. Dr P (what's the worst that could happen - sorry...) - Have you got any other mods to your car (i.e. exhaust / induction?). I was pretty keen to go and see either Stealth or AmD for a chip - did they give you a decent amount of rolling road time? How much did you pay (if you don't mind me asking)? Can you feel the difference in the car - what's the difference in the driving experience? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just keen to get as much info as poss before I get mine chipped!
  18. That'll be a big fat NO then! How do some people get images posted....Nick (antera) for example....and I can't? It's driving me nuts! Am I thick? (Dont' answer that actually....)
  19. ...to see if I can actually post a picture not a link.... OLD CAR. NEW CAR. [ Edited ]
  20. Nick - stop the press....how did you do that?! I've been trying to post pictures and just can't - only links. Tell me, tell me, tell me.....
  21. Thanks for trying though vdubgirl....I've given up now....just post links...
  22. They're actually a little way out of Farnham - near Churt. Really in the middle of nowhere - best bet is to multimap them on their postcode mate - The PHIRM Unit 4, Quail House Farm, Hyde Lane, CHURT, Surrey, GU10 2LR Tell them where you heard about them....always nice for them to know! They'll look after you mate.
  23. Snap! I've got those on mine! Thought they suited the car perfectly.... I've got 5mm spacers...I'm kinda hoping I might be able to get away with 3mm ones - like my wife is always telling me every mm counts! http://img3.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc=loc193ℑ=4e9_front34.JPG http://img3.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc=loc175ℑ=621_side.JPG 8)
  24. They're not too bad actually sankey, but then I have the best alloy wheel cleaner IN THE WORLD! Seriously, if you haven't used P21S Gel (from Dr Ok Wack Chemie) then try it. You can normally get it from www.iauto.co.uk but their website is down at the mo. But you can see what it looks like here http://www.autopia-carcare.com/p21-105g.html It's so good that once I was told the alloys on my BM needed refurbing they were in such a state - half a day and lots of scrubbing with this stuff and they were mint again!
  25. I know I'm not the first person to post a little something about these guys - but they are worthy of another mention. Having found this forum and got some good buying advice I picked up my standard Highline from Newcastle and the first thing I did was bell The Phirm (on advice from this site). The Phirm is a small erm...firm....near Farnham in Surrey run by Tim, Ian and Sam (and Chessie the boxer dog). Tim is ex VAG and what he doesn't know about VR's aint really worth knowing. I spoke to Tim, who straight away said I could take the car down and they'd stick it on the ramp and give it a free
