  1. thanks for the replies guys. Water pump seized, auxiallary belt snapped, and aux belt tensioner knackered also. All fixed now, and back on the road
  2. Hi all Lovely sunny day, and my vr6 overheated on the way home from work. Battery light on, oil temp >134, water temp off the scale and lost power steering. I've put coolant back in, and started it, but both the oil and water temp are rising very quickly, and the battery light is still on. I'm not competent to know if these are all linked? No fuses are blown, but has a snapped a belt somewhere? Any advice / suggestions before I find a garage is most welcome. thanks
  3. Thanks both for your help, It's been on the VAGCOM diagnostic today and comes up with fault codes of 01013 intake valve front right faulty and 01014 exhaust valve rear left faulty - which I'm being told means confirms the hydraulic unit is f***ed. I've sourced one through a breakers today, so it's mainly labour costs. Welcome to the wonderful world of VR6's eh? Lets hope it gets better from here! thanks again guys.....
  4. Hi, My ABS light has been on since owning the car (a whole 3 weeks now), and taking it in for a service today, I've been told the problem is a faulty ABS hydraulic control module, which has a heartbreaking £1000 including fitting attached to it. Having read other posts on this subject, I'm assuming a constant ABS light could be down to something less significant. Anyone got any simple checks the garage (not vw specialists)can do, before plumping for the expensive option? The car is a late 94 golf, and any advice is hugely appreciated. thanks.
