They have'nt been curbed but the laquer is beginning to come away, so dont really need a refurb. I thought i give it a go myself, can anyone tell me the best way to go about it.

Thanks for your replys. I will be preping the car myself so can i clear something up will i have to drill the rivets out behind the plastic arches or will i just have to tidy up the paint behind the arches. I have'nt looked behind the arches yet so hopefully i will not get any nasty surprises.

VR monster I have'nt looked under the plastic arch yet to see whats growing under there!!?.I have to find some CL side trims to replace my ones. Let me know how you get on. Thanks for the reply.

Hi I have looked at at a few threads on here from people wanting to do this. My VR is going into the bodyshop the week after next to have some rust sorted out, i was thinking of taking the arches off and getting them to smooth whats left under the plastic arch. Is this an easy job? and is it really worth the hassle. Is there anyone that has done this that could give me some idea on how to go about this?

Just fitted a Momo steering wheel but lose the momo horn , so i ordered a horn from R& A. Just tried to fit it but cant work out which wire go's to which connector. There is only one wire coming from the boss and two connectors on the back of the horn. In the boss pack it came with an extra wire with a spade connector on one end. The boss has a collar that the horn go's into on this there is a spade connector but as soon as you connect the wire to this it makes the horn stay on. Can any one help me please? Does anyone have any idea what i am talking about!!!? !dodge

Flushing radiator / coolant
Paul Allen replied to Paul Allen's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Many thanks -
Hi People What is the best way of emptying the radiator , as i have had a coolant leak because of a spilt hose. I will need to empty the old coolant and replace it , but what coolant shall i use. I had used G12 before and just want to check that this is suitable for the VR.
-
Thanks to everyone who offered there top radiator hoses, but i don't need as i have managed to get a brand new ones for FREE !lol from a friend who is replacing his with a Samco set. He is replacing all of the hoses that the preivous owners had just bought brand new from VW costing over three hundred quid!!!!? RESULT.
-
Thank you for the replys Dubloke, i have just been on the samco website and it says that they do not sell to the public you can only buy them through distributers. Do you know any where that sells these dirt cheap?

Hi people Coming back from work tonite pulled up onto the drive , i noticed steam from the bonnet. Opened the bonnet and there is no water in the tank x) . I have let it cool down and have found the problem the large hose (i think its called the cross over pipe could be wrong) has a pin sized hole in the end under the coilpack. I have attached a picture, does any body know where i can get this hose from as i imagine VW to be really expensive or should i bite the bullet and get some Samco's?.

drivers side window not working
Paul Allen replied to scruffy's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
I had a similar problem. In the end turned out to be one of the wire lifters which powers the window up and down this had got twisted. Your best thing to do is have a look on EBay or a scrap yard and buy your self a second hand one, i bought mine for fifty quid better than VW who only sell the window in different parts for silly money. It is to hard to tell which part is causing the window to be stuck best thing is to renew the whole thing. -
I posted a question a couple of days ago about my jumping rev counter. Did'nt get any reply so i searched the boards, the problem seems to be a dirty ISV!!?. I went to take it off this morning to give it a clean and found that the sound deadner has a hole in it. In the attached picture it looks like the sound deadner plugs into the long hose beside it. this is where i have the hole as the plug has broken leaving the pin sided hole. Will this cause the jumping rev's because of the air leak? and where if needed can i get a new ISV or sound deadner. Thanks in advance

Sorry for the long thread, here go's I have recently put a new Ram air Pro filter onto my VR and have now noticed some problems. Since fitting the filter i can hear a whistle noise coming from the engine bay, i have rechecked all jubilee clips and none are loose. The noise seems to come from a black plastic box shaped thing!!? that has two pipes going into it to the right of the throttle body. There seems to be a pin hole near the top right of this box. Is this what is making my rev counter jump and what is this box thing. Also the car seems to be holding back at around 3.500 rpm. The filter

I had pretty much the same problem as you , in the end i bought a second hand ABS pump and ECU from EBay for £50 and i am going to get Stealth to fit it. I let you know how i get on, as i am sure this is a cheaper option.
-
Nothing else came in the box just this big old air filter. I already have a K+N filter on the car but i don't think i can use the bracket for the K+N for the Ram Air there nothing to attach the bracket to the air filter.

Hi Everyone I have a couple of questions for all of you that have bought this quality street tin sized air filter !amazed I have bought the above filter brand new from a friend but it came with no instructions. I know how to fit it on (not exactly rocket science there!!), but for all the people that have one of these do you use cable ties to keep the filter from moving under load and where do you tie it too.
