  1. i think there is always going to be at least one of these debates on a forum like this. as long as it doesn't get personal everyone has their own opinion! i think that anyone who has owned and lived with a vr will be the first to say they're not lazy or slow unless you want them to be! as for the 20v vs vr debate, i think if you are comparing power achieved to money spent then the turbo would win, but then big bhp doesn't equal reliability and for the money spent i'd rather see it still working this time next year than have to keep spending money on it to keep it reliable!

  2. its difficult to tell without seeing it in the flesh so to speak! it could be windsor blue as mine goes a pupley green in the sunlight from different angles! my paint code is ln5y, and you should find it inside the boot, on the back panel under the striker pin for the boot lock. or on that panel somewhere !

  3. all small-medium french sporty cars are quick than they deserve to be thanks mainly to the shocking build quality and spritely engines! i think what most of us are trying to say is, in our experince we have not come across a saxo, g40, 106, or polo/lupo gti, to name a few of the smaller hot hatches that has given any major concerns where performance is concerned! i would certainly say that mine, as well as many others on here(six, mangold, tommy, pete etc) have cars that are well looked after and serviced/tuned more than is annually needed! this helps in the performance dept no end, as can be seen by the rr results table!

  4. think you're wrong there mark i have to say. and i'm sure i'm not the only one thinking the same! the vr is a lighter quicker car than a standard 1.8t, thats a proven fact! and as for the 174bhp the standard 2.8 lump delivers, its a known fact, and disclosed on here somwhere by acf8181 i think, that vw made the engine to be at the bottom of its capability with plenty to be extacted from such an engine! how long has mina's car been around? maybe not without its probs, but how many high bhp turbos around now will you still see with the same setup in 5-6 years time? we all love your car, and i think the vr will change your mind once in for its driveability alone! the 20vt aint the ultimate setup everyone thinks it is!

  5. acf8181- i was trying to make that point about the 1.8t in my post, it may be easier and cheaper to obtain silly bhp figures for it , but in driveability and long term reliability its always gonna come up short! plus its a right dog round town when maxed to the limit! the vr is the winner all round i think anyway, even a 1000bhp ferrari engined nos monster would struggle against someone with your driving ability in a vr! bring it on saxo people! lets see how many we can make implode on the road!

  6. mmmmnn, gotta share your pessamistic view there six! if you want power why not put the 1.8t lump into a mk.3. its been proven to outperform the vr in terms of money spent=big bhp gains. so why is it that so many companies who have done both as demo cars, and indeed individuals on here and other sites, always say as a car for everday use in the performance market, the vr would be weapon of choice for its driveability? i think this thing about the saxos is wildly out of proportion somewhere! my mate has a pug206 gti sp and stands no chance against my vr as proved on many occasions home from work, and that has more power/weight than a saxo and handles better! my old 106xsi had 120bhp and was outgunned against my vr at avon park and on the way there and back!

  7. only annoying in the dark if you go pimp daddy stylee all round! besides, the law is clamping right down on dangerous dark tints, so it would be a waste of money to get pulled and told to remove them! most reputable places will warn you accordingly of the pitfalls and recommend the right film to stay within the law anyway!
