Price would depend on what products you were using... if I was going to pay someone to do my car the sort of money that's been mentioned for a pro job (ie £150+) I'd expect them to be using a machine polisher with products to match.
If you're using decent polishes and a quality carnuba wax etc it's worth paying for but I can't see people wanting to pay a lot if you're using products they can buy in Halfords (despite what the above post says, most megs waxes don't last 5 minutes!)

I'm getting a droning/whirring type noise that gets louder the faster I go (it's not too noticeable under 70mph but gets a lot louder by 80mph) I'm presuming it's a wheel bearing but can't tell where it's coming from exactly...
How do I check which wheel? Is it just a case of jacking up each corner and wiggling the wheel top to bottom?
Is there anything else that could cause that sort of noise?
cheers

Ah yeah my kit was an aquamist one... I think there's quite a bit of room under the battery tray
-
I used the existing washer jet bottle for the reservoir and stuck the pump down by the battery tray

If you turn your ignition but dont start the car and leave it for 15mins it will reset.
What he said
Although I don't think you need to leave it that long, if you open the bonnet you'll hear it making noises, when it stops it's done

cool 11 ish it is then

also they have an offset of 43 so will this make them stick out wider?
PCD is 5 x 100 so all good there.
They're pretty much the same size and offset as standard VR6 wheels so will be fine (apart from being too skinny and tucked for the arches!)
-
he was answering someone else who posted a bit further up... as has been said 205/40/17 wll be fine
-
forget all the gay colour combos...matt black centres, matt black lip, polished bolts... no patience required, not much cleaning and will suit the car

shouldve read page 2 before posting really shouldnt I!

Standard VR ET is 35
ET on standard wheels is actually 45 (or possibly 42 cant remember) but they're 6.5J wheels... that equates to about ET 32 on a 7.5
your current wheels at et30 and with a 10mm spacer means they are effectively et40 which is why they fill the arches nicely
As has been said adding a spacer pushes the wheel out further thus lowering the et

Thats the one mark

the whit hart in copford... where we used to have the phat dubs meet
-
What time is it?
-
It's not just the ET that will affect it, the style of wheel will as well. The offest is measured between the centre of the wheel and the mounting face but the shape of the spokes is also a factor and that can only really be tested by fitting the wheel.
The other thing you don't mention is the wheel width... In theory the same size wheel and offset would fit if it's the same width (but like I say, not guaranteed) If you went for a wheel with a higher offset you could get it to fit by using different sized spacers (or you could go for an offset a few mm lower with no spacer)

iv put 17's on all 3 of my mk3 golfs' date=' had 3 sets on this one, imo any other size looks too small / big
[/quote']
I've had several different 15, 16 & 17 on various VR6s and I much preferred it on 16x8 D90s in terms of the drive... looks is a bit trickier as I've had some nice 17s but I think the right 16s suit a mk3 better than anything

i am glad i have found this post i have just fitted some fk streets to my vr' date=' whats the best way to set them up??? thanx
[/quote']
Take it to a garage/tyre place that does laser alignment and get them to set it up, set the ride height you want first because futher adjustments will affect the camber/alignment should cost around £50

so cams' date=' induction kit, 6 branch manifold, exhaust and a remap should def see 200bhp?
what about a corrado throttle body what gains will that give? if any?
[/quote']
The car in your sig will be OBD2 so a corrado throttle body won't fit

as above ,depends on the wheel width but unless they're 9s 215 is too big! I found 195/40/17 perfect on a 7.5x17 wheel
