spanky 0
Well the time has come and my standard system has just about given up, and I need to find a replacement. I know there are many different exhausts out there but I'm after something that is as quiet as possible and doesn't look like I have a couple of dinner plates strapped to the back bumper. I quit like the Milltek but just wondering on opinions on other makes. One of my mates has a Scorpion exhaust on his mk2 16v that gives a very good but very quiet sound, does anyone have one on a VR and if so what is it like? any opinons would be greatly recieved! cheers
spindat45 0
Hi. There are loads of threads on here which should help you make the right decision. I have a Miltek Cat back system on my VR. Lovely sound when you really put your foot down but just a gentle rumble at low revs. It only has 2 silencers compared with the standard 3 box system so less back pressure. I wanted a Jetex originally (also 3 box I think) as I didn't want anything too loud or boy racer-ish. Jetex are said by many to be a lot quieter than the Miltek. I got the Miltek s/hand for a very good price and I have no regrets as I needed to get rid of the pea shooters in a hurry. I noticed a slight improvement in acceleration at lower revs after fitting. Its down to personal preference at the end of the day but definately have good a look through the numerous posts on this subject before you make your decision.Kevin
matth76 1
I've got a Milltek cat back too. Stealth commented how good it fitted and the quality was very good. Really lovely noise. Its quiet but louder than stock and deeper. I've heard it against a Jetex and Magnex and my Milltek is quieter. I've also been told its quieter than Scorpion. The Milltek really makes a proper howl when you put your foot down which is how I wanted it: quiet when you want it but nice when you floor it... and it really emphasises that V6 howl. Its not loud or droney at all cruising at 70mph. Other options is a Supersprint, which is only partial stainless steel - mild steel for the main system but stainless only on the backbox... however I am pretty sure they also do a full stainless system option...not sure on this. The supersprint is pretty much the same noise level as the Milltek. Both very good quality. One thing to consider is if you want to supercharge in the future the Jetex is the one to go for as it is the most free flowing with a 3" bore as opposed to 2.25" for the Milltek and Supersprint, which is the same as stock bore, but they are more free flowing than stock. Be aware though you wont see a huge increase in power - its mainly for sound and looks... good luck mate
