VR6Fletch 0
(m) Got a 1993 VR6 with 100,000 on the clock. Seems it has had good and bad owners. Spent a lot doing it up and replaced brake lines, rear discs and one rear caliper. Recently brakes judder through the steering wheel under light braking but it all seems solid under heavy or firm breaking. Any clues on why the judder. :S
guppers 0
have you replaced the front discs. just done mine (same problem) and it cured the juddering. just make sure its the disc and not the hub thats warped. not sure how you would do this though, maybe with a dial guage?? i took a chance and it was my discs. hope this helps. oh by the way, make sure you change the pads aswell. dont mean to state the obvious but i've seem people put new discs on while still using old pads. nice?! dellert 0
Could be worse I seen people with the car up, engine running and idling in first and a file/sandpaper on the disc!!! Some people eh!! Sometimes you can tell just by looking at them, and they just look nackered! Patchy wear pattern or discolouration(blue)! Have you checked the pads? Not all of them have wear indicators, and some people disconnect the wire!! Some people eh!?
VR6Fletch 0
Cheers - appreciated. Likely to be th cause - front discs are orginals and pretty worn. Checking out advice from Forum members on disco upgrades so will make decision on replacements. As an aside the VW specialist I took it to for most of the basic work needed recommended Pagids.
