Finally got it clean and shiny!

Washing and waxing my car on the road we live on always risking life and limb, but yesterday I took some time to get a good layer of wax on my VR.

Unfortunately I found a few bits of rust around the arches so this waxing is just to hold it until we move house and I'll have a driveway (and garage!) where I can tackle the tin worm more effectively. It's pretty much all surface rust that's been done before, and painted over, but not done well. :(

I found a 10p sized patch on the door (same thing, painted and mint when I bought it..) a couple of weeks ago and ground it down to bare metal and took out as much metal as I could before applying kurust and several coats of paint by brush hand and dolloping wax on to to let it cure fully. That will need refinishing once it's cured fully, but brush applying is better for protection as it forms solid layers rather than the less dense finish from a spray can.

The whole car also needs introducing to a clay bar and some lube and I think once I've done the rusty bits I'll be switching to a paint sealant like FMJ or Toughseal to keep the oxygen and water away from those problem areas as much as possible.

I'm not looking for a perfect finish, I just want to keep my daily driver as solid as possible. Still, it looks good right now if you don't get too close. ;)

Roll-on the house move, my VR is waiting for some TLC!
