i am currently in the process of putting a vr6 motor into a seat ibiza.

i am not a mechanic and i am basically doing this with the help of a few friends and from what im been told off the net.

i have got to the point of putting the vr6 motor into the ibiza and have realised the gearbox/clutch bits are different.

the vr6 is a hydrolic change gearbox and my ibiza is cable change.

what i would like to know is if it is possible to use a different box which is cable change??? does anyone know if i could?? also what effect would this have on performance etc?

it is possible there is a kit you can get to convert your vr6 gearbox to cable change instead of hydraulic if you call me during the day on saturday i will give you the part number for the part you need and you will need to use a mk2 golf 1.3 clutch cable with it but if you call me i will give you all the details .cheers carl 07957 204 365.

i have just been down to work on my car and told my mate what you said kilokilla

he says that if you have done it before then he has no doubt that your right in what your saying but he cant understand how it will work due to a hydrolic mechanism pushing and a cable pulling.

please could you explain further to how this works.

aslo i would still like to know if its possible to use a different box if any one knows to find out all possibillites.

thanks liam
