dj_daniel88 0
I finally got my car... Its a red '97 auto in immaculate condition. Got a great price and in Melbourne too. I'm very happy with it. I have got a couple of quick questions... - The gear selector does not light up when the lights are on. The car has had a road worthy done and full service, so I'm not sure if they've missed this, or its not part of the road worthy, or doesn't light up at all. The plastic cover clips out and you can see a little green thing (I think it may be an LED) that sits under the gear indicator (D,R,N etc)... I will probably take it to the dealer to get a new one put in if it is an LED, but I ask here first: Should it light up? - I've read about the auto VR6's having some problems. My car has done only 137,000kms and the transmission seems to be working fine. What symptoms I should look out for to know if there is any problems? What generally goes wrong with the transmission? Thanks a lot! Daniel
matth76 1
Hi mate... welcome to the forum. I don't personally have experience with an auto although I'm sure someone else on here will answer your questions... I know there are one or two auto owners on here. Sounds to me either like an led bulb needs looking at as you suggest or a fuse has gone and needs replacing. In my personal experience if you take it to a vr6 specialist they will have far more knowledge and experience as opposed to a main dealer plus you pay half the price.CheersMatt

richievr 1
your "P R N D 2 1" should light up ...there is a bulb holder with bulb listed on the parts slide - part number is 1H2 927 149 K25...as for the auto box problems i am not aware of any, but then there aren't that many vr autos........if it's like the rest of the car it'll be fine!!!!this is for a UK RHD car - i guess there won't be much difference for an aussie car - it's still RHS so should be fine ......
