When do the fans come on? When you turn the engine off??? I don't know if mine are working, any way of checking?? I've had the fuse changed under the coolant, but i can't hear them spinning when i turn the engine off!! Any ideas??

cheers jez

The VR fans are 3 stage. Speeds 1 and 2 are triggered by the 3 pin sender in the radiator and the 3rd speed is controlled by the black temp sender in the thermostat housing.

To test the fan itself is OK, unplug the rad sender plug and bridge the two outputs to the horizontal spade (one at a time) and for speed 3, bridge the black sender plug. The ignition needs to be on to test speeds 2 and 3.

Speed 3 rarely ever comes on as it triggers at 120 degrees, but it's nice to know you're getting the full compliment of speeds.

If the fans come on when bypassed, then the rad temp switch is goosed.

The after run pump stays on for 10 minutes after the engine is stopped and if necessary, fans 1 and 2 will also run.

If the aux pump is running but no fans, it might just be that the engine isn't hot enough. What is the water temp getting up to?

I think speeds 1 and 2 come on at 100 and 110 degrees respectively.

they will continue to go when you turn the engine off, then stop a little after that, but it will depend on the length of the journey and how hot the engine got during that journey i think. if you have changed the fuse in the relay it should be ok.

same with mine, i always here the aux water pump even if i turn the car on for a minute then turn it off without driving at cold start, iv never heard my fans turn on after switching the car off at operating temps of 70/80 for oil and needle halfway for water temp.

i do hear the fan come on in traffic etc now and then though
