matth76 1
HiStrange problem with driver side electric window. To move the driver window I have to fully lower or shut the passenger window. Why is this and is this easy to fix? Its as though I need to move the passenger window to give the driver window power. And quite often the driver window will start moving on its own all the way up as you'd expect when you close it but about half way it abruptly starts going back down. So to shut it again I have to incrementally press the button to close it (often giving it 'power' by moving the passenger window up and down fully). Strange problem! Also (not sure if this is linked or totally separate)my CD cuts out occasionally. Normally only happens when I turn it on for the first time or move to the next CD in the changer. It's the standard radio cassette head/face and standard sony 10xCD changer. Had a radio specialist look at it and he couldn't work out what the problem was ...other than recommending I pay £50 to get the head/face (if that is what it is called) sent off to get refurbished, but he warned it may not fix it. So haven't done that if I'm going to end up wasting £50. Any ideas. Is this common? Is it linked to the electric window problem and is it a 'shorting' problem? I haven't had anyone look at the electric windows yet as I may see if it's something I can do if anyone can point me in the right direction (if it's not too complicated). Thanks for any help.Matt

28v6r 0
Unfortunately matey ...the bad news... the window problem is the control unit on the regulator thats US. The only fix that I'm aware of is a whole new regulator @ £170+ . mine did exactly the same when I got it and that was the only fix I could get as Passat regulators on the driverside are like Rockin' horse doo doo!! !grr !sad !sad As for the CD thing, check your connections at the back of the head unit, in particular the live connection, mine also did this although not related, however I can't remember how I fixed this...it was sometime ago... !sad
matth76 1
Cheers for your replies. £170 ouch! That may have to wait until the summer. The passenger one works fine. You didn't need to get a new CD changer did you to fix your problem? If you do remember please let me know. Cheers, Matt
