bazz780 0
look through your paper work and you should find a certificate - if there is a cert it means it approved, mind you there was a thread which advised factory fitted VR alarms are no longer considered approved??i just fitted a concept 650 alarm to be safe as i spent shit loads on the car

Seademon 0
Ha ha you can get an alarm fitter to check for you and if you have no paperwork they can offer provide you with a Thatcham certificate for the insuance company - costs about £40 though cos they have to check all the wiring and what not.My mate fits Thatcham Cat 1's for about £200 so your looking around that price but depends on what make of alarm you go for etc.
Maz 0
Hi, I've got the same problem Jezmoz, I've got mine booked into the local VW dealership for friday to have the immobilizer certified. They've quoted me £99. Didn't realize there were cheaper alternatives though. Best of luck, dig deep...Maz

bazz780 0
any insurance company that requires the car to have an approved alarm will ask for the certificate at one point or another, my insurance with HIC states that to be insured on the car it has to have a cat1 alarm, they have not asked for the cert yet but when it comes to a claim im sure they will be interested.i fit my clifford concept 650 by an approved installer for £300 pounds.
