matth76 1
HiI'm getting a BMC fitted for free the same day as I get my car rolling roaded, in March by Stealth. I was originally wondering whether there would be any difference to me fitting the BMC myself a couple of weeks before the rolling road, compared to having the BMC fitted literally just before the rolling road: would there be any performance output differences?I thought the ECU would need time to relearn the new settings. I've found out from Stealth that there will be no difference and I will see the performance increase straight away.Stealth are doing the work...I asked them about my question above and this is what they said (in an email):"Would not really be a problem on the rollers if BMC fitted that day, there is no ECU learning under full throttle conditions"When Stealth did my exhaust and high flow cat they did say my ECU would have to relearn the new fuel / air settings and in 50 miles or so following the fitting and rolling road session I would gain another 3-4bhp. Just curious why is this not the case with a BMC induction kit? Thanks for any help.CheersMatt
bazz780 0
all i can say is that when i fitted my BMC i noticed the difference straight away, felt more grunty and smoother overall - engine felt as though it was breathing more easily too. cant advise on ECU though
Slim 0
Vince at Stealth probably knows more about the VR6 engine than anyone on here.

matth76 1
Cheers guys. I agree... when I had my exhaust fitted they really took the time to ensure there were no blows and everything was fitted spot on. Really recommend them. Pete, what mods do you currently have on your car? I remember you mentioning you had around 221bhp. Do you have a s/c?
VR6Pete 1,455
No, I'm totally N/A, No Supercharger... YET...I've got a Schrick BVH, Schrick VGI, Schrick 268 degree cams, Dastek ECU, BMC CDA, Power Flow Exhaust...It's going back to Vince for a Milltek Sport Exhaust, 6 Branch Exhaust Manifold and a new Gear Box with 3.6 Final Drive and LSD.Pete
matth76 1
Nice! What's a Schrick "BVH", Schrick "VGI"... all part of the inlet manifold? Are you running a cat bypass?I'm not sure what Milltek system I have... other than it's called a "Twin Jet" double exit slash cut. I've got a Milltek high flow cat too, and a 6 branch exhaust manifold (I hate to say it fitted by Storm Dev. who I've had recent trouble with) however the quality of their stainless 6 branch looks very good... they said it was custom made for them in China (not sure what I'll do about the "lifetime warranty" though)... it looks identical to a Raceland one which I've always thought look very nice. Gives a nice amount of low-mid range grunt. It's funny when you can hear the exhaust gases literally flowing through the ex. manifold when you plant the throttle due to the stainless being slightly thinner than the stock cast mani. VR6Pete 1,455
I've still got my CAT on the car... no point really A Schrick BVH is a Big Valve Head and the Schrick VGI is the variable inlet manifold.
