However what exactly do wheel spacers do for the wheels? Do they make the wheels stick out further towards the wheel arch... for example if the alloys are rubbing slightly on calipers would fitting spacers solve this problem?Is it not advisable to stick wheel spacers on standard wheels... for example if I wanted my standard wheels to move slightly further towards the wheel arch?CheersMatt Link to post Share on other sites

My aim is to make my wheels flush with my wheel arches (so it's mainly for show). I've got a golf vr6 with the standard 15" bbs alloys. What size spacers do you recommend and what's the cost? mattverth 0 Posted January 17, 2006 Report Share Posted January 17, 2006 IMHO....Only buy hub-centric spacers - there are threads with H&R spacers all over this part of the forum. Dont go too far out and risk the fo'sho LA gangster skateboard wheel look - and use longer bolts specially made for the job. The front wheels should be further out that the rears to aid steering too - They are on the standard set up. Spacers are useful for aftermarket wheels to clear calipers. I found I even had to increase the spacers 3mm to 5mm when I put new pads in! Link to post Share on other sites
