purple highline monster 0
any body know what size rear door tweeters are? i have just got some Alpine component speakers to upgrade all 4 doors (very cheap
badboyV6 4
ive read elsewhere that there arent any decent tweeters you can fit in the rear quarters... better off fitting some in the fronts - ive mounted mine at the top of the A pillar :-)
purple highline monster 0
ah thanks for that mate, just a thought as i am fitting the others tommorow, i am not into mega stereo stuff really, just happy with a decent enough head unit and ok speakers, the standard ones sound ok to my surprise! got the Alpine component ones as they were "cheap as chips"
badboyV6 4
yeah definitely nick- i suppose they are coaxial 2 way speakers? They should be fine and definitely much better than std. I was speaking to justin the other day and he reckoned that just having coaxials alone made a big difference when he had them :-)Ive put 2 way coaxials in the back of mine and components in the front- which were a bit of a bitch as youve got to run cable everywhere... and amps running them in the boot so even more cable!Wouldnt mind getting some replacemnts for the dash though... Anyone know of any good ones that fit straight in?
purple highline monster 0
yeah they are 2 way coaxial ones, see pic, sorry dont know much about stereo stuff! just plug them straight in, and off they go, thats why i avoided any other sorts as i didnt want to run cables & amps its agro! badboyV6 4
so these fit straight into the top of the dash? what size are they nick??
purple highline monster 0
no these are for the front and rear doors mate 6.5 inch! i cant find out off anybody if you can get straight forward upgrade ones for the rear door tweeters or the dash ones, i found a thread that the guy from sydney (sorry mate forgot your user id) had fitted some tweeters using a template in the dash ones, shame as my mk2 i just got some jbl ones and bolted em in!! badboyV6 4
yeah front and rears are 6.5, but i was told the back tweetwera are a no no...Thats why i was thinking about replacement dash speakers as i know you could get them for the mk2
Big P 1
Going back to my halford days cough, but pioneer (cant spell) used to do a set of components that were a direct replacement for the vr's, sounded really good and weren't to expensive, fitted in great! !lol

purple highline monster 0
Just fitted all 4 door speakers today, took about an hour,(not bad for an electrical retard!) very impressed with the fit and quality of the Alpines, they sound superb compared to the vw fit ones, easy enough job too, just cut off vw conectors, and fit new crimp terminal on wires, the rear ones nearly caught me out! 4 x wires! :| but 2 power the tweeter in the door handle but run to the lower speaker for power (5 door) i just joined a - and a + together and they work fine still when reconected to the new speaker, once i worked out the blue wire was the + speaker terminal %-6 !!! they are all driving as they should in the right direction, now coldplay sounds the nuts at full belt!! a worthwile upgrade for
RIX 0
if you want some fore the dashbord its 100mm(think thats 4"),iam buy 2 pair of oe uprated speakers for the golf4 and fitting them sometime in the here in the spring, only one small prob. the the high tone speakers are small,so they will fitt perfekt in the back, but not in the dash(will bend a peice of metal and fitt them on that)
