masterginger 0
Just a general query as summit dont seem right with the old suspension....Driving the VR i noticed that the rear suspension is a bit "bouncy" and when going over uneven roads the back end seems to step out because there is so much bounce. I dont feel confident that if i needed to brake hard on a bend on an uneven road that it wouldnt spin...Just wondering if the suspension is bouncy anyway or do i need it checked out? purple highline monster 0
sounds like your rear shocks are knackered mate or atleast well worn, get them checked at a decent garage and go from there, it might be worth upgrading all the suspension if the rears have gone? as the front is possibly not much better? there are loads of suspension threads on here so you can decide from standard to in the weeds! Matt W 4
There is also the rear axle bushes, these could also be gone creating the twitchyness of the rear. Or worst case it could be both and the rear shocks have gone as well like Nick says. Easiest would be to replace the rear dampers and see how it goes. If its no better then look at having the rear bushes done. Not cheap if done by VAG and not really a home job as the OEM VAG bushes are a pain by all accounts to do by hand. You could 'upgrade' to Powerflex bushes. These can be installed by the home mechanic much more easily than the OEM VAG bushes.
