Can anyone give me advice on how to smoke my stock lights, i know it involves an oven , paint etc. What i need to know is.

1. How long in the oven? on a baking tray? wrapped in foil? what temperature?

2. what paint to use, which parts to paint:?

3. what to use to re seal them??

they look so mucgh better smoked, and will look nice on my alpine white piece of shit.

cheers, jez

Add a table spoon of oil and season with salt, pepper and thyme.

Warp loosely in foil

Place in top shelf of a pre heated oven, gas mark 7 or 180 degrees for 2.5 hrs

Baste regularly

Leave to stand for 5 mins

garnish with parsley :P:P:P

Sorry mate... couldn't resist ;)

jezmoz, talk to 'Icy' on Club GTI/various forums - I'm sure he's done this. Effectively you paint the various surfaces inside the light, other than the actual reflector black. Also, might be worth a look on VWVortex, as the yanks are very much into the 'Euro look'.

you only paint the outer edge of the reflector not the curved inner parts, otherwise your bulbs will emit no light at night! you can place them in an oven and check at intervals for the lense coming loose, use a large flat device for revoving it, like a proper trim tool. or, you can use a hot air gun with the same effect and is more direct heat to where its neeed as opposed to heating the whole headlight!
