brake pads, size and low wear sensors?

Recommended Posts

Late VR6s use 288 x 25mm discs. Earlier ones used 280 x 22mm discs. The 288 (ATE) setup uses much bigger pads than the 280 (Lucas/Girling) setup. Your 97 will have the ATE 288 brakes.

You can easily distinguish 288s from 280s because the 288 calipers have a wire clamp on the front of them, which you can see through the wheel spokes.

I think some cars had wear sensors. You'll soon know when you take the old ones off as there'll be a wire attached to one of the pads on each side.

Stick some Ferodo DS2500 pads on and be amazed :-)
