Sim16v 0
Does anyone know how to de-activate the passenger Airbag correctly? It says in the hand book it can be de-activated, but it does not say how to.Cheers
jayvwvr6 0
why do you want to de activate it? it can be unplugged safely as long as the ignition isnt turned on,if you do turn the ignition on while any of the airbags are unplugged you will need to get it reset with vag-com as your airbag light will stay on all the time. alanf 0
It can be de activated! you will need to see a dealer though and get the shorting kit off them! preferably let them fit it as well! the kit consists of a couple of plugs and leads and a resistor that fools the ECU into believeing that the airbag is still connected !mistrust out of interest why do you want to de activate it? child seat in the front? VR6Rich 3
BTW you can get these resistors from Awesome GTI too as they are used when replacing an airbag steering wheel with a non-airbag wheel. ;-)
alanf 0
You can but not sure if they are of the same rateing? if the resistance rateing is incorrect? it could bring up the fault light
VR6Rich 3
Ah ok, thought maybe it was the same thing. Worth phoning up Awesome GTI and asking them about it.
