Another question - what are anti-roll bars and strut braces, what's the difference?

Recommended Posts

What do anti-roll bars do? Will they make my car wallow less or roll less going round corners? I know they wont make it as stable as fitting coilovers but have been advised on here not to even fit 30mm lowering springs (even good quality ones) as they make the ride unbearable apparently! Therefore was wondering what cheaper options there are, and if anti-roll bars make any kind of difference at all, and what sort of price am I looking at? Are they fairly straight forward to fit on the front and rear? What are strut braces? Are these the same thing and are they expensive? Do anti-roll bars or strut braces fit underneath the car? Are they easy to fit underneath the car or do the rear ones attach to bolts in the boot somehow?

Cheers for any help.

Matt

your car is fitted with antiroll bars anyway as standard! to improve the roll bars meand uprating to summat like an eibach set-up, which is around 240 on their own! do a proper matched spring/shock set-up as opposed to just springs! strut braces are added brace bars usually added to upper/lower front and rear uppers! braces basically tie the two suspension towers together so they both move together as opposed to different directions under cornering forces! hope that helps a little!

Oh right thanks. I think I'll stick with the standard anti-roll bars then. Do strut braces improve the cornering significantly? I've heard some people say they make little difference, others say they do?

Is that a strut brace in your engine bay in your pic?

Where does the rear strut brace fit...in the boot?

Thanks

Matt
