matth76 1
HiPlease can anyone answer the question above? Stealth and AMD both do a remap for about the same price. Has anyone had it done...did it make a big difference? Should the remap ideally be done after a high flow cat is added? I'm leaving the standard air filter on as I've been told by both Stealth and AMD that there is very little difference at all fitting an aftermarket kit...inc. BMC, they said about 1-2bhp increase if that, as the standard one is very efficient apparently.CheersMatt
Nerih 0
some people can flash them.
badboyV6 4
Im nearly 100% sure you cant just flash the memory of an OBD2 mk3- like you can with a mk4.To add install a modified program you will need to get a port soldered onto the ECU, and then the chips can be flashed and plugged into the port. This is what superchips do for sure.Once AMD have done this they can then remap the car whenever you want by just replacing the chip with a new one....
matth76 1
Sounds a bit messy souldering the ecu... has anyone had a remap done to their car...did it make a lot of difference ?

badboyV6 4
Nah its not messy - lots of people have had this done- its the best way to add programs, and seems a much more adaptable method of adding modified programs to ECU's than a piggyback... (this is what ive learnt from a few different people over the last few days... a have a socket on my current syncro, and so did my last VR.. Bothwere proper jobs- i wouldnt even think about attempting this myself though....
