pabs 0 Posted August 29, 2005 Report Share Posted August 29, 2005 i have a mk3 2.8 vr6 engine in my mk2, had a engine rebuild and ever since the car has always been poorly starting (me having to put the accelerator to the floor on start up!) and when it does start up it throws out loads of white smoke. also does this when deacclerating. uses tons of fuel (getting 100 miles from Link to post Share on other sites
VR6Pete 1,455 Posted August 29, 2005 Report Share Posted August 29, 2005 sounds like your timing is out to me, I know a guy who's VR was a pain to start in the morning, I think it was about 1 - 2 tooth out on the chain. With you saying you've had a rebuild. no doubt you've had the head off and cams out etc.... sounds like it's overfueling, possible cause from the timing. Get it checked!
