beetle.jim 0
Help! My Vr has just developed a rather bad smokeing habbit. It only happens when i let off the throttle and is fine on start up and when accelerating. I thought it might be valve stem seals but they where done with the head gasket 6000 miles ago. Im now worried it could be the rings. The engine has only covered 120k although i dont know the history of it! Any one got any ideas what else it could be or am i looking at a rebuild? badboyV6 4
Were the valve guides done as well????? bottom end is usually very strong- if it was rings it'd be smoking on full throttle for sure.....
beetle.jim 0
Not sure if the guides were done, have to ask the mechanic who done the head gasket. The work was done before i got the car but i know the guy who done the work which is handy. Are the valve guides a common problem on vr's?
sundodger 0
Mine's developed a similar problem, but it doesnt always seem to do it? Does yours smoke on throttle lift off it all the time then?
beetle.jim 0
No dont think it's all the time or it's not always noticable anyway.
