mightyvr6 0
the maf is seeing too much air and it's telling the ecu to add more fuel than it should hence the stalling etc. Not sure if removing the isv is the answer either.
eViL 0
I'd agree with that.. disconnecting the ISV is just a short term solution to the driveability issues. It's likely I'll design a pipe specially so that the MAF doesn't read the re-circulated boost. I've got an idea of the shape, then I just need to get it made up.Anyone else wanna order one if it works? think I'll have to patent it..
mightyvr6 0
I'll have one. Alloy so it doesn't rust inside.
eViL 0
OK right then..so if it's the RECIRCULATED air that confuses the MAF sensor.. wouldn't it be common sense to fit an ATMOSPHERIC dump valve so the air isn't recirculated? or is this not viable?HELP ME GOD! eViL 0
ALSO -Check this! (taken from the VF-engineering Website)Re-tuned supercharger intake 12Dec03Updated supercharger intake pipe for all 91-99.5 VR6 engines. The position of the bypass return spout has been moved from the end of the pipe that is coupled to the intake of the Supercharger to the other end so it is closer to the MAF. This update will dramatically improve deceleration off throttle. The new intake design is supplied on all kits going forward from 12Dec03 and when fitted to the 95 or earlier VR6 engines will no longer require the MAF to be extended with the flexiduct we used to supply. To exchange your intake pipe for the new design for just the cost of shipping please fill in the PDF order form from the link below. In other words.. VF engineering have ACTUALLY solved the problem and us OBD1 owners can get it for the cost of Postage.Better get on the blower to my supplier..
mightyvr6 0
No. It seems that if you run without a recirculating dump valve you will stall. This is because the supercharger impeller creates some air turbulence which spirals down onto the maf causing a rich condition and stalling. The recirculated boost prevents air from the impeller spiralling onto the maf as its travelling in the opposite direction. That's why the return line from the dv points in the direction of the impeller. However the maf has to be quite far away from the dv return so that doesn't interfere with the maf readings. You can run with no dv but the maf has to be far enough from the impeller so that it doesn't run rich.
mightyvr6 0
I don't understand how the updated VF-Eng design would work as surely the dv return line would be closer to the maf ie. blowing recirculated air on the maf causing a rich condition off throttle?
eViL 0
I've got in touch with VF-enginerring to see what the beef is.. I'll post the reply.New Piping goes in tomorrow..
mightyvr6 0
where did you get the pipework from?
eViL 0
Well I looked high and low for something suitable.. B&Q ect ect..I found a place that does 'feeder pipes' for induction kits in the size I needed. Gonna wrap it up so it doesn't wear down again.Wasn't cheap either. I actually found the perfect shaped piece of stainless pipe on my old Scorpion exhaust, however the bore is only 2.5inch and I needed 3inch.Might still have a go hooking it up tomorrow.. *primes the grinder*
