steering

hi all,i have a slight but annoying steering problem. car wants to drift to the left (if you hold steering wheel very lightly) can also hear a bit of a grind from around left front wheel area on breaking , when it was on the rolling road vince reckoned it needed 4 wheel alignment because of this problem, had that done and no change. i've got a g-max suspension kit on the car at the moment(on before i bought it) could it be incorrectly adjusted on that wheel compared to the others???

When you say 4-wheel alligment do you mean tracking, as you need to have the camber checked as the front ones are adjustable. Which is probalby about

Castor and camber setting are on any suspension set-up for the VR. Where abouts are you based? as there's been loads of discussion of places to go, to have it done at resonable prices.

i'm in hertfordshire just north of watford. ehat sort of garage should i search for? what equipment do they need to have and do i need to make srue they have a knowledge of golfs?

Just ask the garages if they do it, and tell them you don't mean tracking. A lot of people don't know they need to do this adjustment. If you can find a VW specialist the better or you can take it to the dealers for about
