ssaunders 199 Posted July 30, 2016 Report Share Posted July 30, 2016 (edited) Hi all, looking for input so I don't destroy my new gearbox. as a few of you know I have a 4x4 syncro turbo corrado which has eaten a quaife 6 speed box, I bought a 'low' mileage box from Germany that ended up needing a total rebuild including new diff gears. I have had the gears and shafts shot peened and super finished for strength (report to come) anyway I have been reading about the torque eating 3rd and some have suggested that hitting full boost a bit later (+4500rpm) can help prolong the life of a gearbox, especially 3rd. Can anyone shed some light on the subject? I have attached my last RR result. This was with the quaife, the new box is a 5 speed vr6 syncro box, not sure if that makes a difference? the box only needs to last a year till I go haldex. cheers steve Edited July 30, 2016 by ssaunders bennyk 1 Link to post Share on other sites
