ok guys my coolant since i bought my car last year is rusty but i don't know why i tried emptying the coolant couple of times but its still orange, there is only the 1 leak on the thermostat housing which i'm gonna fix asap but anyone know the best way of dealing with this or just keep flushing it out??? !sad

Got same thing on mine. Ive flushed it a number of times, its got a bit better, but not a lot. Have a look at the insides of your coolant pipes - they'll be coated in orange muck, plus the inside of your rad will be the same. Try reverse flushing your radiator (take it out, turn it upside down, stick a garden hose in it and flush). you could also try a radiator flush, couple of quid from halfords etc...

Seein as youve got samcos on it may be worth a few more flushes, but you'll have the gunk in the rad and the heater matrix. For info - i cleaned my header tank but removing it, putting it in a bucket of boiling water with a dishwasher tablet in there. Let it soak and attacked it with a bottle brush.

I dont know if this is relevant on Golfs but on my old 5 turbo the genuine Renault coolant comes in an orangy rust colour. Yes it looks distrurbing but is perfectly normal. Dont assume its rust just yet:)
