Tomo 0
My vr had been reversed into and needed a new wing which has been resprayed, its a '96 dragon green and the new paint job on the wing is noticably a different colour, it doesn't look as deep. Is this due to the original paint fading with age and the new paint showing it up? the guy who has done the job hasn't faded the new work in at all, you can see where he's masking taped over the bumper! should you be able to notice the new paint job? there are a few other areas that i'd like to be sprayed up like scratches and stone chips if not the wing again if it can be better matched, can anyone recommend a real good place to get this done? i live near worcester. badboyV6 4
Take it right back to him and tell him to sort it!!! Any decent paintshop will take a sample of your cars colour (obviously with your paintcode as well) and blend it perefectly without noticing it at all. A bit of overspray can some times be missed but you can usually use a clay bar or T-Cut to get this out..... Still if it was me i wouldnt be happy bud- id be taking it back for him to sort...... (and get him to do your scratches for messing you around with his antics ;-) )
Tomo 0
I would totaly agree with you and i'm tempted to give him hell and to get him to do it again, ~but i really don't think he has a clue about spraying, and would hate for him to mess it up anymore! He said he had sent of the fuel cap cover for paint matching, so it should be the right colour. I can only assume that he doesn't have the right equipment/knowledge of spraying then to make a mess of it!! I shouldn't of gone to him in the first place but had heard he was good from various people, i will have to admitt defeat and try and get it done properly by someone else who knows what they're doing! can anyone recommend a good place to get it done? Thanks, Tom. (very nice car !amazed fourmotion)
badboyV6 4
hmmm i see what you mean, but if hes already mucked the colour up, it wont hurt asking him to try again. If he see's the diference he might know what to do about it.... If youve heard good things then he wont want his reputation ruined... Give it another try and at least it will save you money. I know a place in Wales thats very cheap and also do a top notch job. Maybe a bit far for you though (its in Aberdare) Thanks for the comments too :-)

Petesvw 0
I work in a body shop, and any mettallic, should allways be blendid (with the exception of black, sometimes)If he has had to send the pf away to be colour matched, it would suggest to me that he does not have "colour matching" equipment. There can be up to 6 variants to each colour, so he may have not had the right one mixed!!!. ?! badboyV6 4
Yeah no worries tomo- The place in Aberdare is called Alwyn Rees- 01685 877079- speak to Alwyn or Mike. Its a small place but they do all the colour matching on site (Good point that Peter about the colour matching on site) and ive seen there work- my girlfriends had 3 bumps in her 2 yr old Volvo s40- and has had nearly all the panels done by this place- really immaculate job- the colour is spot on and the flake is also perfect! ill be taking my car there very shortly.
