VR6OC News Bot 30
Volvo Cars and Polestar have announced the launch of the new 367hp Polestar S60 sedan and V60 estate. For the 2017 model year, both cars have swapped the previous 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine for a specially-enhanced version of Volvo’s Drive-E 2.0-liter 4-cylinder unit. Although this may seem like a downgrade, the cars actually now deliver more power. This has been achieved thanks to the a bigger turbo, a supercharger, new camshafts, new conrods, a larger air intake, and a higher capacity fuel pump. As a result, both cars now delivers 367 hp and 470 Nm (347 lb-ft) of torque, or 17 more but 30 Nm (22 lb-ft) less compared to the previous models. Matched with a BorgWarner four-wheel drive system and the new Polestar-optimised eight-speed Geartronic automatic gearbox, the 2017 Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar make the 0 to 100kmh (0-62 mph) sprint in 4.7 seconds, and have an electronically-limited speed of 250kmh (155 mph). Both cars are 20 kg (44 pounds) lighter in total compared to the previous models. Despite the extra power, according to Volvo the Polestar duo has a class-leading level of 7.8 l/100 km (30.1 mpg US) and 179 CO2 g/km. Other highlights include a recalibrated electro-assisted power steering, 20-inch lightweight wheels and 371-mm slotted brake discs. The automaker says the 2017 Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar are quickest cars they have ever made. Volvo also announces that it is expanding the number of markets where a Polestar will be sold from 13 to 47, while the annual production numbers will be doubled from 750 cars a year up to 1500.
