VR6Pete 1,455
Ford has confirmed that the white-hot hatchback will compete in this year’s FIA World Rallycross Championship (WRX), with Ken Block behind the wheel. As teased at the end of Block’s Gymkhana 8 video, the Focus RS Rallycross car will be fielded by the Hooligan Racing team for this year’s FIA World Rallycross Championship (WRX). Andreas Bakkerud will join Ken Block as his teammate for 2016 season. The team will also have full factory support from the Ford, which can be a winning formula for Block and his teammate. Based on all-new global 2016 Ford Focus RS, Rallycross cars will feature a new EcoBoost engine with 600 hp and 900 Nm (663 lb-ft) of torque, and an amazing 0-96 km/h (0-60 mph) time of less than 2 seconds. The power is sent to all four wheels via a Sadev 6-Speed sequential gearbox with adjustable, mechanical front and rear differentials. The Focus RS Rallycross comes with bespoke underbody protection, SLA-type suspension, Brembo 4-pot calipers with 350mm rotors and FIA-spec roll cage. To suit WRX tire regulations the car sits on 17″ WRX wheels shod with AVON race tires. The FIA World Rallycross event starts from April 15-17 in Portugal, where the two Focus RS Rallycross cars driven by Block and teammate Andreas Bakkerud will have its debut. The series takes place in 11 countries on three continents with 12 races on the calendar.
