The Monk 50
Before I bought the Galaxy and before we learned to expect our forth child, I was looking at estates, namely the Mondeo ST220. A chap I spoke to on a few occasions, traffic police, told me that the gearbox/stick was like stirring porridge and that theme seems to follow the ford name. I know the V6 petrol is a VW design but I've noticed since buying it, that snap gear changes or quick shifting is not really doable. In my old VR6, gear changing was crisp and I never encountered any crunching. In this newer engine with 6 gears, I have to be smooth and gentle with gear selection and it does fit the description of pushing a wooden spoon through syrup. It's as good as, the same engine found in the v6 4motion mk4 golfs and I can't imagine that they were designed to be so sloppy with the "performance" idea behind them. Is there anything I could do to remove the slop or does it sound like the design?. Cheers all, Monk. Edited January 14, 2016 by The Monk
