Wierd one this.

I had a garage replace my offside front wheel bearing.

Since then, my steering wheel is now offset from centre.

About one number, if the wheel were a clock.

I took it back to the garage and he had a quick look but was confused as he hadn't touched the steering wheel.

I imagine it must be something to do with removing the rod from the hub.

However.

It drives perfectly. No juddering, no pulling, it's pretty much spot on.

Anyone got any ideas what might have happened, ad if I need to get it sorted sharpish?

Or can I just (carefully) remove the steering wheel and re-align it ?

Ta.

The camber would need to be severely different to push the wheel out that much! I generally set the camber using the 'ooh that looks about right' method (yes I'll get it done properly one day), and I've never managed to get the wheel more than a smidgeon out.

Maybe, unless it was way out before and now they've corrected it?

You can tell visually if it is way out - crouch down and look at the front of the car and the front wheels should look almost exactly vertical, but very slightly tilted inward at the top (ie very slight negative camber). Do this on a flat surface such as a driveway - the curve of public roads makes it impossible to tell!

i have max neg camber on my car, and the other day put one side back slightly of full camber and it drove like the alignment was WAY out, after i took it apart and put it to full on that side and hey presto it was back to normal, its worse on the vr6 as there is so much wieght on the front, so any minor outsetting is gonna show worse!
