Got My New VR6 - Couple of Questions

OK so I picked up my VR6 last night - it's a minter and I am well chuffed!!

I do have a couple of questions though:

1)driving into work in the rain today I wanted to use the rear wiper. The stalk has 2 arrows on it indicating a small forward push for intermittent wipe with a fuller push for squirting water. Now, try as I might, even just nudging the stalk slowly forward still squirts water - and the rear wiper does not stay on intermittent - if I want it on I have to push it manually each time - is this correct?

2)My service book, manual, etc are all in a foreign language - either German or Dutch! The PDC stamp in the service book was done in Heerlen wherever that is - but then the car came into Scotland but has english plates on it - it seems that my car could be a parallel import - can anyone shed any light?

And can you advise where to get an english manual from so I can learn how everything works !lol

3)My alarm appears to be a VW cat 1 - I only have 1 remote fob - do you only get the one or should there be a red 'master'? There is a slot on the RHS on the dash next to my steering column that the remote fits into, there is also a little red button above this - I do not need to use either to unlock and start the car so not sure what purpose they serve - any ideas?

That is all my questions for now :D

I have ordered 2 Toyo Proxes T1-R for the front which should be getting fitted on Friday (front tyres currently illegal) so I will have more confidence in corners when they have been fitted. But I am really enjoying the sound of the V6 and the car in general.

First off welcome, im sure you'll enjoy the VR6 experience, warts and all.

1) Pushing the stalk back and lettting go should start the intermittent rear wiper, but for info, even if you push it a little way a little squirt of water always comes out and then it starts to wipe intermitently. Dont know why it doesnt inetmittent wipe after that on yours. May be the wiper relay - see www.vagparts.com they sell these, or might be cheaper to go to VW dealer - thats if it is that thats fooked.

2) the Netherlands, which is only 300 miles from Wolfsburg.

3)Sounds like you have an aftermarket immobiliser on it which has been turned off or taken out. As far as i know the standard VW alarm doesnlt have a 'slot' or a 'red button'.

Agree with most of what shail says but my standard VW alarm (logic) does have a slot. It's not in the same place as yours though - mine is in the glovebox and the alarm fob itself is slotted in there to turn the immobiliser off in emergencies such as a flat remote battery.

It's possible this could be the same as yours with the different location being due it possibly being intended as a left hooker originally although to be honest it's more likely to be an aftermarket immobiliser.
