Buyingconstant7 0 Posted July 19, 2014 Report Share Posted July 19, 2014 I have been told by a pro independent VW mechanic that my engine is in excellent shape. But I checked oil on it a few months back and it was nearly at the top, let's say 3/4 of the rough or "safe" patch was covered in oil. I checked it today and about 2/3 to 1/3 of it was covered in oil. Is this thing burning oil? There is no smoke coming out of it. I drive tons of highway driving, drive hard and have about 230xxxkms on it. Any tips? Link to post Share on other sites

Lukey. 381 Posted July 19, 2014 Report Share Posted July 19, 2014 Up to 1 litre per 1000 miles, by VWs statement, is acceptable. Personally mine doesn't use a drop, but it's right there in the handbook that this can be the expected consumption. Link to post Share on other sites
