adi 0
Hi all, just bought another VR on Friday, its a 1997 obd2, on Saturday it refused to start, no ignition lights, will turn over though. When I turn the ignition switch off, it tries to unlock the car. I frantically locked/unlocked it with the fob and 10 mins later I got ignition lights and continued on my merry way.Jumped in it earlier to take the wife to an important appointment, same again, only this time no matter what it refuses to give me ignition lights, and sometimes neither of my fobs will do anything (one has a new battery).I am seriously considering removing the whole thing, as I'm going to the isle of man next month and I could really do without this happening there!Unless anyone has a simple fix for this, has anyone got a brief guide of where its likely to be tapped in, I don't want to be stripping the car to pieces if I can help it. I'm aware that it is tapped into the fuel pump, ignition and starter feed. Or am I overthinking it and it is just as simple as a dodgy ignition switch and I can get away with bridging it at the back? VR6CABBS 1,311
You'll probably find a concept 50 is wired up behind the fuse box if it's been wired properly. Take your ignition cowlings off and drop the fuse box. I'd certainly be looking for a loose or broken wire first. Sounds like a trial or error job. If you can't find the problem get a sparky to check it out. Good luck.
adi 0
Are they normally tapped into all 3 at the fusebox? If so shouldn't be hard to find them, I'm fairly well aquainted with CE2 wiring

But starter and fuel with be done behind the fuse box if a proper job has been done mate. You'll have a better idea once you drop the cowlings and fuse box. I had a similar problem on my colour concept and found a loose wire. Poorly fitted. I ripped it off and put a cat1 toad on my cc and VR.
adi 0
Cheers, I'l have a look after work tomorrow, I hope to find a bad connection at the green ignition wire, but from what I'm reading these concepts 50s belong as far away from a car as possible!
