Hi guys could really do with some info if anyone could shed some light on the issue recently bought my vr6 had low water light coming on and had to top up coolant a few times over last two days not by much say quarter of a liter Friday afternoon and again this after noon i decided to today just to put a kseal in the water just incase i have a small weep somewhere anyway on the way home from work tonight the car just cut out as i was getting onto the motorway pulled it onto hard shoulder but it wouldn't restart  there were no lights coming up ie batt light etc  on bottom of clocks and was just dead the car has what i think is a conlog 300 immobilizer one which you have to plug a keyfob into dash for a few seconds could this of made the car cut out ? i tried plugging it in but nothing the Rac came out to recover me he had a quick look and said there was plenty of coolant left so it hadn't run dry the Rac man also noted soon as he turned the hazards off and walked round car they were still flashing even though he turned them off inside he shut the door and they went off they are going to send someone tomorrow to look at it and try diagnose

any one had similar problems that could shed some light

turn over at normal speed?  no flashing battery lights before it cut out? try un plugging and re plugging in the coil pack if its OBD2..  check fuses for fuel pump..  the hazards could be the alarm but could also be a bad or dirty connection ..  shutting or slapping the door could of broken it and turned them off...  failing these get he diag out n plug it in ...  get a multi meter and get on your knees lol

I had the same problem. I ended up ripping the interior sensor control unit out and it's been fine ever since. Was located under the passenger kick plate. HTH. Might be worth just disconnecting it and see if it makes a difference?

EDIT: sure I have the same alarm BTW

well the Rac man came back to look this morning and confirmed its the immobilizer but he couldn't bypass it i had a look and managed to find the control unit for it and trace the wires but im beginning to think its factory fit now as i traced the wires to behind the fuse box and they are not spliced into other wires but proper plug connections with vw stamped on them got an auto elec coming out tomorrow hopefully he should be able to sort
