B-Man 16
Hi guys,Bought this catch tank to fit as my pcv has had it! So I know the one pipe goes from where the PCV was fitted on the engine to the tank and then where does the other go from the catch tank? Or do I just put a little filter on that side of the tank? Also do i then eliminate all the original pcv stuff and pipework? Thanks!
Lukey. 381
You need to get 19mm ID oil resistant hose, run one length to tank the another length to the takeoff on the intake elbow
andymk312v 15
As above or run to the atmosphere, blank off the inlet pipe and run it down and out behind the subframe.Personally I don't like that stuff entering my engine.
Lukey. 381
I've run a catch tank recircing for a few years now and took my intake elbow off a few months ago to replace the silicones and it was still squeaky clean, that's the whole point of the catch tank, to condense and collect the vapours in the air so clean air recircs. Swivelonit 119
Just for thought. I have a mate with a Vauxhall Corsa rally car, it has a 2.0 16 valve red top in there, so it goes well! The catch can has a return to sump pipe for the liquid that is caught, apparently this is how all Vauxhalls have the catch can. I can't see any reason why this would cause an issue as it is only oil vapour that is returning to sump.
Lukey. 381
About recirculation. The reason for it recircing is that the air in the engine has already been accounted for by the maf in its calculations, if its vented to the outside its calculating incorrectly. My vr with 150k definitely suffers from a small amount of blow by hence me not wanting to reduce the octane of my petrol with all its crap. And even that will have minimal effect on over fuelling. Lukey. 381
I've just given you the reasoning, you can do whatever you want.It won't just be blow by anyhow, its positive pressure in the engine, which the whole right side of the engine links top and bottom. Lukey, by takeoff on the intake elbow, do you mean the 1st pic? also what do I do where the pcv valve hose splits and runs to pic 2? Not the best pic, sorry.
Lukey. 381
Yes the bit with the sensor, which is a dummy plug anyway on UK cars. Hose to that. The tube off the throttle body goes to the pcv then down to a solenoid and then to the charcoal canister below the headlight, block off the little pcv hole on the bent around bit so its still sealed.
