vdub_pete 15
So its looking like im going to have to do the head gasket on my vr now i was thinking while the heads off i might as well make it worth my while and gain a few extra horses Heard a 268 profile was a good choice for street use but what manufacture im unsure of also where to get it from.I was also told that its a good idea to replace the hydro lifters and valve springs if im doing cams. Now im thinking what the hell i might as well upgrade everything, valves, springs, guides, lifters the lot.So my question is what and where do i get it? Ive done a google search and it returned a few promising results but i really dont know whos good whos not. Just wanted to get a few recommendations of peoples past experiences.Oh and whats the deal with the mk4 metal gasket whats its advantages over standard? Thanks guysPete

Lukey. 381
The mk4 12v gasket is multi layer steel as opposed to fibre, it raises compression half a point but you have to make sure your head and block are super clean and even more super parallel or they won't make a good seal.
