sand blasting fuel?

Recommended Posts

Hi chaps,

Ive managed to nab a sand blaster off my brother in law for the week, and im going to strip down a rear sub frame and a few other bits, what sand do you recommend for this? just normal sand or maybe ali oxide or something different?

And any other tips anyone can give me?

This should hopefully keep me occupied yhrough the holidays!

cheers

I always get my blasting done by someone else. The metal particles are more aggressive and erode the surface loosing some detail. You can blast with crushed walnut or coconut shells but not sure where you would get it from or if you can use the same equipment.

never heard of anything like that! I know some people use soda for woods e.t.c. that doesnt need anything aggresive on it. this is just for the rear sub frame and hubse.t.c. so not really bothered by quality, as long as it paints up okay to stop rusting up im happy.

I would have got someone to do it but i just had a chance to do it for free si thought I'd have a blast! (See what I did there? ;))
