steveukv6 0
Hey all, are the mk3 golf vr6 heavy on front wheel bearings? Ive had my car a couple of months now and in the history folder its had numerous front wheel bearings and they have just got really noisy really quick. Going to change them this week but wandering if there is a stronger set to put it?Steve
craggsy 91
No more than any other car. Maybe they used cheap bearings when replacing em. I only ever changed 1 front bearing in 5 yrs ownership on mine but i used genuine stuff from VW/TPS

steveukv6 0
Hey guys, quick update, it was the wheel bearings making the noise. Both side stripped, pressed out and replaced with new ones. Also replaced new discs and pad with the ebc turbo groove discs and green stuff pads. The offside bearing looked as if it was fitted incorrectley as the plastic/rubber edge was fowling on the hub and burred up. The old ones looked to have done around 40k miles so not to bad really. There wasno real play in the bearings though. Jut glad the horrible whirring noise is gone.
