Wet rooflining on drivers side only!

Recommended Posts

Hi, returned to the car today (after lots of heavy rain), pulled out the seatbelt - and it was sodden. Looked up, rooflining was the same all along drivers side....... but worse towards back of car, back from sunroof.

I do have a sunroof, but NEVER had any issues before, even when numpty at the car wash tried to jet wash mould off the seal!

Question is where are the s/r draining channels so can check they not blocked and why only along drivers side??

Do the rubber roof channels (on the exterior) have draining channels? as the interior wetness seemed to be in line with that too!

Gotta try and dry it out tommoro so any hints on this task would be handy too....

cheers, and hoping for a sunny day

The sunroof drain holes are towards the front of the car, on each corner when the sunroof is open. The drain is in the door shuts, there are two little rubber bung things, one each side. Poke a wire or something in there and see if anything comes out. Alternately, being very careful you can get an air line on a blower and blow top to bottom. All the gunk will come out and all the water, just make sure that you don't put too much pressure down it..

The roof strips don't have a drain, the drain for these is basically down the side of the windscreen and into the boot run off bits.

Another thing to check while you're at it is that the aerial seal is ok.. although from what you described, sounds like sunroof.
