dan_a 1
Hi all,It looks as if though I may have to replace the immobiliser pickup coil on my VR6. I have removed the steering column surround and it looks dead easy to remove the actual reader from around the ignition barrel. However the cable going into it is hard wired so will need to be disconnected from whatever it's plugged into....my question is, what is the pickup coil connected to and where is it?Thanks,Dan
russj249 2
Follow it back a bit.. slightly to the left of the steering column, and pretty far under and to the back if the dash is a little black box, the plug goes into this, but its a bit of pain as the wires are all ties into the loom.. easy to do, just a little fiddly and time consuming. Biggazvr6 0
It's connected to the immobiliser command box, to the left hand side of the steering wheel behind the steel plate under the dash. It's a bit tricky to get ya hands in to swap without taking the metal plate off, but it's doable. Just be careful not to bend the pins on the box. If you need a new coil reader, I have some know working ones here. They are fairy dear from vw if I remember correctly. Pm me if you want any more help or a new reader.
