rebuild time...... where to get me some parts?

After some investigation, i came conclusion that my obd 1 needed a rebuild

Was just wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of somewhere that will get me a set of rings and what the cost would be?

I got a price from TPS at £42 + vat per ring which I thought was a bit pricey!

Also what chain kits are people using?

I got a quote from euros for a full kit, water pump, head bolts and aux belt for £220. Just don’t know whether to trust them or not

Im itching to get it back together for GTI spring fest, and its just the last bits to get it back together. Just got my head and block back. Had new guides in the head and a skim, had the block honed and skimmed and just finished painting it.

Any help would be great thanks.

with rings i would go vw but that just me, i got a set of pistons and ring brand new of ebay for about £250-£300 i think but that was a few years back now , ECP use VW parts 9 time out of 10 they just grind the vw logo and number off !!!
