Schrick 268 cams

Recommended Posts

Being a novice when it comes to cams i may be asking a stupid question but i've been told, how true it is or not, that a set of Schrick 268 cams are suitable for any vr6 lump?

I have an OBD1 coilpack motor and have been told that a set from a 'rado vr6 will be suitable?

Anyone able to shed any light on this for me?

Many Thanks...

From what I know (but no personal experience) a 268 is the best all rounder without running too lumpy or effecting the driving too much on an N/A engine.. also I don't think there's a difference between 2.8 and 2.9, but sure someone can clear that up.

As for 'any' vr6 lump, things change.. If you were thinking of going forced induction anytime soon, it might be worth baring in mind that a 268 may be reasonable for a turbo with all that back pressure, but a 268 on charger will have too much of an overlap, effectively blowing boost out the exhaust. If you were thinking of going forced induction go for a 263.

Overall, a 268 is probably the best one to go for for normal use :)

Hope this helps

Thats great, thanks for the info - i had searched relevant posts on here and came to the conclusion that these are the best cams to run naturally aspirated.

I wanna keep it N/A but try and get as much power as i can from the usual route of cams, mild head work, manifolds etc.

Just need clarification from someone that 268 cams will work either with 2.8 or 2.9 :-)
