vr6_super 0
Hey allVR6 been ok recently until yesterday when started to get knocking when turning right, from the nearside front area. The steering isnt jumpy or leaning or anything so jacked up, and took off the wheel.I was able to shake the suspension strut and move it prob a half inch side to side. Should the strut move, even when the wheel is off?I also noticed the strut tops were perished and arent sitting right on either side but worse on the nearside. So does it sound like something simple like replacing the strut tops? They were done around a couple of thousand miles ago but unsure as to whether they were totally correct ones. bear 0
sounds like the outer constant velocity joint ,iv`e got the same problem, fitting a new one later, dont think it`s the strut tops
Nex 17
If it only happens when you are turning l would think it more likely to be the outer CV joint then the top mounts buddy, if it was your top mounts l would guess it would be knocking over bumps ect.. as well.is the movement from the top or the bottom of the strut or does the whole thing shift 1/2 inch hub and all? vr6_super 0
it moves from the top end but ive had a few people think its the cv joint so looking at that but the top mounts, even if not anything to do with it, still look wrong, theres nothing flush about them
Nex 17
If in doubt about the Tops Mounts buddy l would say replace then wont do any harm
bear 0
repiaced the cv joint, nice and quiet now, was`nt a lot of grease in the joint plus a bit of water no wonder it was knocking, only took 2 hours
