rsweeney 40 Posted January 21, 2012 Report Share Posted January 21, 2012 changed brake lines and tightened all unions up. bled system three times including abs pump and master cyclinder but pedal is still really soft and travels miles.any ideas? im using a pressuring bleeder that attaches to battery , pressurises system by feeding it brake fluid to a constant pressure through cap on reservoir Link to post Share on other sites

Lukey. 381 Posted January 22, 2012 Report Share Posted January 22, 2012 you could have a go in a big gravel carpark and slamming on many many times to invoke the ABS, then seeing if you can bleed any more air out, but using vagcom is much simpler, it does all the work for you.After i bled mine with vagcom there was definitely no air in the system but the pedal was still spongy, this was with braided hoses too, disconnecting the rear light harness from the NS light in the boot (so that the brake lights arent permanently shining and flattening the battery, remember to re connect after!) and leaving a wedge holding the brake pedal down for a day and night then hammering the brakes on a winding road sorted that out though Link to post Share on other sites
rsweeney 40 Posted January 22, 2012 Author Report Share Posted January 22, 2012 cool yeah i just really worked the brakes on the gravel till i felt it kick in then bled system, pedal is alot better but not perfect. just about to go out for a drive in it and then wedge brake pedal over night,where do i disconnect light harness ?then drive it hard tomorrow Link to post Share on other sites
