Manifold, decat pipe issue

Recommended Posts

Anyone ever had an issues sealing the manifold and decat joint? I've got the correct adapter plate, only thing is is that the bolts don't seem tonwind in far enough as they bottom out on the decat pipe flange. I'm thinking drilling a hole so the bolts can wind thru. This should allow it to clamp up better. Any body ever experienced this problem? The de cat pipe and the manifold are both made by the same company so I can't see why there should be issue. Cheers in advance peeps

Right, I'll explain. The manifold has a fluted styles end with a loose flange. The adapter plate I'm talking about bolts directly on to the de cat flange and is exactly the same size and shape etc. There are holes drilled into the adapter flange to match the holes on the loose flange on the manifold. In the fluted end of the msnifold you put one of those tapered exhsust bush thingy mibobs, and the adapter plate fits onto that which is all fine. Problems start when you try to tighten the bolts in because they bottom out on the flange of the de cet pipe. You can't cut them as the two flanges are butted tight together. Any way, I've sorted it tonight. Marked it all and basically drilled the holes right thru so the bolts can now tighten up nicely. Job done. Really sh1ty design if you ask me.

is it new or secondhand? you can buy replacement seals

If you do it up to tight you will get it knocking as it wont have much flex and it its to loose it wont seal

i had same issue on mine , so i

1.replaced seal

2.filled it up with exhaust paste

3.put high compression springs on (from work)

tightened them up....

seems to do job
