Dipped beam stopped working on both sides..help needed

Recommended Posts

Hello all.

Noticed my dipped headlamps have stopped working the other day.

I have checked the fuses and they are fine.

Here is a picture of the bulbs...as I am a total n00b when it comes to car electronics, I was wondering if anyone on here can tell by the pictures if they are 'gone'.

Or is it likely to be something else?

All other lights work fine, fogs, sides, main beam.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

difficult to tell really mate... that said.... if you look at the very top photo you posted.... you can see that the element looks like it has broken.... could just be a trick of the light.....

So no egg sucking here .... You are looking for the metal bit inside the glass to be completely intact...- one continuous strand. If there is a break in any way, shape or form....then... they're foobared mate..

I am reprising this thread!

I received the bulbs today and fitted them. (Awkward job) but drove this evening and they point a little skywards. Do I need to take out the bulb and re-adjust or is it the plastic housing that holds it that needs adjusting?

Thanks

I'd check the bulbs are definately in properly before you adjust them and mess up the beam.

Appreciate the advice but it is hard to know what properly in is!

They seem to sit quite loosely in the enclosure and offer no room for maneuver.

Fiddly blddy clip as well. I can't see how it can go in any other way to be honest.
